I’ve never been much into computer games. When I was a lad I had a Sega Master System II and got well into Olympic Gold and Moonwalker, but since then I’ve not really picked up the baton from my childhood. However, had I had Amusement to read, maybe I’d be more into them, because they make them look all sexy and cool, replacing the image of middle aged men playing online fantasy games in their disappointed parent’s basement, dreaming about the day Lara Croft will turn up to rescue them from it all.
This latest story, Made of Myth, reveal how early computer games weren’t created in developer’s labs, but forged and created for real in factories all over the world. The accompanying text fits the photos perfectly. Check these photos of Tetris blocks, Pong pieces and Sonic rings being created…

Well, let’s done talk about photography again. I’ve just spent the large part of this morning running back and forth through Walking City’s photos on flickr. This young gent is an incredible talent, his portraits, combined with landscapes, are simply beautiful and amongst the first to get me excited in a while. So clean and fresh. I stand in awe, as he’s nailed that cleanliness and it’s bleedin’ hard.
Anyway, let’s have a good look at some of Christopher’s photos….

What is hilarious about all this, is that he describes himself as “just a wee hobbyist”. Bloody hell, we’ve no chance if the hobbyists are turning out work of this quality. Great great stuff.

Seems like a while back now. Also seems a lot like we should have blog’d about this a while ago, beens as one of our esteemed number curated, hosted and shot the whole thing. But, such is the rampant and regular delays on this blog, we’re only just getting around to it. Or rather, I’m only just getting round to it. Now.
Okay, to celebrate the first massive months of the launch of the Architectural Photography branch of clickclick towers, clickclickjim, we decided to have a party at the flat and invite all my cohorts and collaborators (and clients) along to have a few drinks, listen to some music and get some proper photos done did as I set up some lights in one corner of the room and snapped away. Great fun was had by all, my arm was a couple of times bigger after lugging that flash head and ringflash about but it was more than worth it.

You can see a few more over at the webiste, here.
Thanks to all who came.

Ok, let’s talk about photographers. Specifically, let’s talk about really good photographers that are tearing it up right now (in the best possible way) by doing something really unique and creative with what they have in front of them. The bleedin’ French seem to be right on top of things right now on the creativity front. Even more specifically, let’s talk about a young gent called Grégoire Alexandre…

Or…. let’s not talk about him too much, let’s just look at his picture and bask in their majesty for a while. (Sorry for the small-ness of the images, check out his website for bigger things…). His site is a bit information-light, but I can confirm he is both French and about 27yrs old. And probably a nice guy.
It’s so easy to set up all your lights and get a stunning girl in front of the camera and snap away. It takes imagination and spark to create props and scenery like Grégoire does. And that. Is why he is so great at what he does. Because he appears to have it in bundles.
I give to you….. Grégoire Alexandre

Righto, more photography. I’ve got an event coming up for my studio entitled “The First Annual ClickClick Social” (feel free to pop along) where I’m going to have to do proper portraits of all of my guests, all professional and that.
It should be a good laugh and a good bit of practice for me with a ringflash and a couple of strobes, possibly a softbox to. Over the last month or so, I’ve been checking out people who bring their a-game out in portraiture and John Carl’s stuff hit the spot. Nice job.

Lately, quite a lot of the things I see on the internet that make me think “That’s a bit bloody good, wish I’d done that!” seem to be from one of the South American countries. Largely (but by no means exclusively) from Chile and Argentina. Two countries I really enjoyed when I was there. Latest on the list is this monster-lovin’ artist, Relleno De Mono out of Chile. Miss Stride and I have been knocking email back and forth for the large part of the day going “I like this one the best” and “Check this one out”. Great collages with drawings coupled with vintage photos.

I can’t remember where I done saw this. Some blog, somewhere.

These are bloody lovely photos by Mr. Carl Kleiner for FC United, which is some kinda crazy collaboration between him and Mr. Fredrick Evensen. Great stuff, it’s well worth your while checking out some of the other work on all three of the aforementioned interweb sites. I’m with the subdued colours. And the cloud. It all works very nicely together.

Oh yeah. and I like the models outfit. It’s all going on there. The whole lot.

Every second person in Brighton owns a camera. Actually, every person in Brighton owns a camera. There’s more than a handful that are better than me probably, but there’s only a handful who I like, definitely.
Anyways, DarkDaze is always someone who I’ve liked and I’m sure there’ll be space on this blog for my to do a post about him sometime soon. I had the pleasure of doing one of his lighting courses last year, along with three top fellas, one of whom has gone on to set up Garage Studios with Kev (DarkDaze) – a great addition to Brighton, fantastic studio space in the North Laines. From regularly checking their fine website, I came across Louie Banks, who did a shoot there with DarkDaze.
Is whippersnapper slightly condescending? Especially coming from a (pretty young) 27 year old? Well, lets not use that word then. Mr Banks is first and foremost one of those photographers in Brighton I like a lot, a damn fine photographer, seems like a nice bloke, and only 17 years old! Talented, young, nice bloke. What a bastard! Check out his stuff and remember the name!

Alrighty. How is everyone? This time around, there as a damn good reason for me not posting for a while. As opposed to the normal reasons for forgetting etc etc. I’ve been in Paris! And in a wonderful marketing world where I’m trying to push my new business onto everyone. We had our first advert on Spanish radio yesterday!
But anyway, this isn’t about me, it’s about you and its about damn bloody good design. So let’s get on.
Out in China, they’ve been building a series of pavilions on the banks of the River Yiwu, in the Jinhua Architecture Park. 16 architects from all over the world have been bought together by artist and curator Ai Wei Wei and the results look pretty good. It’s all dedicated to his father, Ai Qing, the Chinese poet extraordinaire. This seems to be somewhat en vogue in Asia at the moment – the idea of getting several architects together to design different buildings all on one site. It’s nothing new, but it is very very exciting.
These photos are by Iwan Baan who is almost certainly the best Architectural Photography working in the field today and his website is well worth checking out.

Saw this on Space Invading – probably my favourite website at the moment (except for mine)
